By David G. Brown, M.D.

There is another world besides the world we know. This other existence is full of renewal. It is no less substantial than the world we are used to. It is as vital as our everyday world. It is filled with observations and resulting conclusions.

It is a world of dogs that eat grasshoppers and squirrels that jump tree to tree. It is a world filled with honesty. It is a world in which courage is often not recognized as a part of life. It is a world of circus animals. It is a world of death and loss and revitalization; it is not artificial but part of everything we go through in our routine lives. It is a world in which we realize God inserts himself into our life. It is a world of a grandmother with a flyswatter.

Poetry describes this world. Poetry is this world. How do we access it? It is accessible. It is simple. It requires us only to “listen to the world’s lisp and love it for lisping.”
